So, I wait and pray going on the theme of Luke 12:8 where Jesus says, “I tell you, whoever publicly acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before the angels.” While everyone is singing I get a picture of Jesus looking into my eyes…helping me carry my cross…we agonize together in a state of profound intimacy…freely sharing suffering…so that many can be healed.

Later, Doug starts his message about how wonderful and how painful it is to follow Jesus.  He tells stories of sisters and brothers in Christ choosing to suffer horrendous torture in the Middle East and Asia to share the truth about Jesus’ love for every person by laying down one’s life for another.  Doug encourages everyone to fight for peace in this dark world by sacrificing, so that Christ can be witnessed thriving in our mortal bodies.

Then, just as I am finishing the crosses, I realize I can intersect the lines so they converge behind the figures forming a ‘V.’ And, I think, ‘How perfect…losing one’s life for Christ…as he lost his for us…that is Victory.’
